I recently installed this product on a 2011 Mercedes GLK running on NTG 4.0.

The install was fairly straightforward except for a few things.
1. Trying to get the Mercedes Command Unit back in place was a nightmare. There is just no room behind it to tuck the new wiring harness. I ended up shoving it behind the AC controls but even that was a painful experience to get it back there. So be prepared that what you think might be a 1 or 2 hour install, might take a few more hours than that.
2. Although I could see AUX as a choice in when selecting my audio source the sound still wouldn’t play until I turned AUX on in the engineering menu. This wasn’t an issue with the Carlinklife unit itself. Just something that I think others might find helpful. If you’re lucky you can just turn it on in the engineering menu but if you were unlucky like me and it was greyed out, in order to get the AUX to turn on I followed the directions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgKAZjS3IBQ
3. There is definitely a learning curve to using the Carlinklife unit.
1. If you have your phone connected to the car’s bluetooth and you are also connected to the Carlinklife unit using Apple CarPlay, if you receive a call and answer it, when the call ends, the sound from the Apple CarPlay will not resume. It will look as if your Spotify or Google Maps is still playing but you won’t be able to hear sound. I think you just need to get out of the unit and get back in the reenable it but I just ended up deciding to not use the car’s bluetooth and instead just use the CarPlay for everything.
2. You cannot listen to the car’s FM and use Apple CarPlay at the same time. You can, but you just won’t be able to hear (if you are using Google Maps for example) the directions being called out. This is because the Google Maps is being broadcasted using AUX which is a different source than Radio. I just chose to use Spotify or whatever if I decide to use Google Maps on CarPlay.

Other than these little nuances, I highly recommend the system. Definitely a good alternative if you want an option to stream music to your vehicle wirelessly if you are on NTG 4.0. (I tried the wireless bluetooth dongles before and they were all pretty spotty). The reason why I gave it 4 stars was because of how annoying it was trying to get the Command Unit back in and finding a spot for the wiring harness. If I ever go back in there I would probably just splice the wires into the original harness.

The chat support was also amazing. They were super responsive during my install and were also really helpful when I asked questions on how to use the unit.

Note: I have only used this for CarPlay. I don’t have an Android so I can’t speak to the experience with Android Auto. I have also not used any of the other functions (ex: Screen Mirror, etc).

Product works flawlessly. My 2017 GLC 43 now has CarPlay, the ability to AirPlay from mobile devices, and other features I havent explored yet. I purchased this because Id rather have CarPlay and use a map app on my phone then pay MB every time a new map came out. They wanted to charge me 300 dollars to update my maps and I said Id rather get lost. This was the perfect solution for me . I had mine professionally installed.

Still not sure if it is worth it.

I have installed Carplay and do not regret buying it. It works perfectly, Spotify, Waze, Maps and Google Maps, Amazon Music, and even write Whatsapp with voice prompts, I like Carlinklife! Installation takes about 1-2 hours, depending on manual flexibility, but is doable for everyone. lol.
