At first I was skeptical whether I would be able to install it at all. It would be stupid if you ordered the device and then didn't get it installed. I watched a corresponding video on Youtube and saw that you first have to remove the ventilation grill. So I set out to try that. But the ventilation grille could not be removed to death. Just before I was about to give it up, I tried using a thin spatula between the ventilation grill and the radio unit and Yes! It worked. My recommendation to everyone: try removing the grille first before you order the device. If you can do that, then you can do the rest!
So I ordered the device and 5 days later it was already there. I turned on, removed the grid again and the other parts and plugs. Then half assembled as described, first try whether it works.
Shit, I had no sound or image. And that even though I had connected the old NBT cable to the new panel. Shouldn't the whole thing work at all?
Reconnected the original panel and it worked just like before. So I calmed down a bit, if everything goes wrong, I could still reinstall the old 6.5 inch panel. So connected the new panel again but this time also the white multiple plug. And yes: image and sound were there. Great.
Then drill a hole in the glove box to pass the two USB cables through and put everything together.
Then the next choc: no sound from the right speaker. I sent an email to their service department ( support@carlinklife. com ) and the next positive surprise: I received an answer within 2hrs. A few emails back and forth with detailed tips and the solution. I started unscrewing the panel with the device running and lo and behold: the sound was suddenly there again from both speakers. Yes! I suspect that I had either not pressed the plug well onto the panel or had squeezed in a cable. Put everything together and enjoy the great picture and sound! The sound is much better than with the original BMW Professional Radio with standard loudspeaker.
Well, I'm really excited. There is also a small MP4 trailer stored in the device, which knocks you over: I've only known such a sound from the cinema so far. The image resolution is also very good (higher than from other devices that you can find on the Internet. Overall great! The device acts like an Android tablet! I'm thrilled! Looks so good!!

I absolutely love this upgrade on my bmw. Was very easy to install. It seems that BMW already had the reverse hooked up for the backup camera as well which made that plug and play as well. What I did to find that out was : run wire to the front without hooking camera up as of yet. Install the screen, connect av cable and power for camera, reinstall everything. Startup and if you see backup grids with no connection your good to go just connecting camera at rear of car.
If you are looking for a upgrade to your display get this screen. Night and day difference

This is a great item with tons of value but first it's most important to be very clear this is not for any vehicle or even any BMW, you have to have the NBT system, not the EVO system. Just make sure of that and then it's all good. It's essentially having your phone built into the car, which is awesome and can be accessed via voice or from the steering wheel.
Connection to the internet can be via wifi, which ofc not always too reliable, or sim, which is most handy if you're spending a lot of time in the car and need access to the internet more consistently. Anyway, has tons of functionality and is a decent deal. :)

After about 1 hour of installation with a friend the final product turned out great. Consider working with another person, it makes it far easier. Carplay looks completely natural and the touchscreen works perfectly. The iDrive looks a bit different, but it won't be seen much. It takes a bit of learning to see how everything works if you never used Carplay before, and connecting for phone calls is as friendly as I would like. Overall great product if you want to make the interior more modern and have an OEM+ look.

I am so impressed by this. It's super easy to connect to your phone and to use. I appreciate the fact that it has a built in speaker system Although it's more like a tablet's speakers, it's still nice to have because I only have one working car speaker left so if that one goes, I'll have this. It's made well. I am happy that I was able to find this for my older vehicle as the factory radio is super old. I would buy this again and even give it as a gift to anyone with an old radio system.
